You will work closely with internal security teams and a co-managed MSP to implement and maintain infrastructure, enforce configuration standards, and ensure security controls are applied effectively. The role includes responsibility for Windows Active Directory domain services, virtualisation platforms, network infrastructure, and supporting systems associated with product development.
Role and Responsibilities:
Maintain and administer core infrastructure across Windows, Linux, and virtualised environments
Manage and maintain Active Directory, including users, groups, GPOs, and domain services
Design, implement, and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security baselines and configuration standards
Provision and manage virtual machines using VMware (or similar platforms)
Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls (e.g. Cisco) and related services
Own system configuration, ensuring consistency, stability, and enforcement of defined standards
Implement and maintain patching processes, leveraging automation where possible
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, supporting least privilege principles
Implement and maintain security controls defined by the security team (e.g. logging, hardening, access restrictions)
Ensure systems generate appropriate logs and telemetry to support monitoring and investigation
Work with DevSecOps and Security Engineering to support secure configuration of platforms and services
Support incident response by executing containment and remediation actions (e.g. isolating systems, disabling access)
Act as the primary interface with the MSP, ensuring work is aligned with internal requirements and standards
Ensure infrastructure changes are implemented in a controlled and auditable manner
Identify and resolve configuration drift, reliability issues, and gaps in system management
Continuously improve automation, tooling, and operational efficiency
Skills & Experience
Experience working in a systems administration or platform engineering role (typically 2–5 years or equivalent practical experience)
Strong working knowledge of Windows Server environments and Active Directory (including GPO design and management)
Experience with virtualisation platforms (e.g. VMware) and VM provisioning
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g. DNS, routing, firewalls), including practical experience with network configuration (e.g. Cisco)
Working knowledge of Linux systems
Experience managing identity and access (e.g. Active Directory, IAM, or similar)
Experience implementing patching, system hardening, and baseline configuration
Ability to script or automate tasks (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python)
Understanding of security fundamentals and system-level risks
Experience working with or alongside managed service providers is advantageous
Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
